We've come so far...

These kids don't know what they've done to me, but I'm a big old bag of mush because of their adorable dimples and hilarious personalities.

Happy first day of school to these cutie pies:)

Technically, it's the toddler room for Luke...but that should be super fun, too!
Next year, buddy!

I love you!!!

If you only read one book this Fall...

Please God, let it be my new YA series! Being a self published author is incredibly hard and nearly impossible. But here I am...giving it a go.

Who loves YA?

So, not only did I have two children after a horrible and mostly torturous bout of infertility, but it turns out I also really like to write. I've written for a living before, but it was always for TV and way short. This is different and I hope you approve.
Not only wrote that first YA nonfiction, but I ALSO started a new YA series because I really and truly felt like the market was lacking a little sumthin sumthin in this one area. As a young gal, I grew up on different YA series (Sweet Valley High!) that examined friendships and the trials young people go through (eating distorders, toxic relationships, coming of age, finding themselves, trust) and nowadays it seems like everything kind of revolves around Fantasy.
Personally, I looooove fantasy worlds. How great are they? But, even though I can relate to the characters on some level, it's just a different kind of read. So, here is book one of my new series. Book TWO will hit the e-shelves in a month!

AAAAH Sleep Suit

Luke has been sleeping through the night since 3.5 months when he went from being swaddled to wearing the Merlin's magic sleepsuit to bed. Well, now he is 8 months old and STILL in the sleepsuit and miserable without it. He hasn't tried to roll in it yet, but that has to be coming. Transitioning out of the sleepsuit is horrible :( And I really don't want to sleep train a kid that can stand, so I want to do it now. Oi vey. I'm tired.

Other than that, Luke is the bomb. He claps, smiles, laughs, babbles "mamamama" and "dadadada" and "beh". Lol. He also takes 2 naps...a short one at 10am and another at 1pm when his sister goes down.

He's such a happy guy. I love him so much!

20 weeks old!

What a big boy! Seriously, this kid is huge...growing like a real Springtime weed:)

Right now he:
Loves his Merlin sleep suit
Finally takes the NUK paci
Is in daycare and loving all the kid watching
Is off the boob (stopping at 4.5 months - sorry kid)
Naps 3 times a day
He has started sleeping through the night

Aaand he has a cold (daycare!!!)...but things are looking up! This little boy definitely has some cranky moments, but overall, he's as easy as pie:)

9 weeks old

Last night we switched from the Rock n Play to the bassinet. He wasn't attached to it like Piper was, and he wasn't sleeping great anyway, so why not make the transition to flat sleeping like the rest of us. He went down like a ton of bricks at 11...for 30 minutes. At 11:30, he chugged 3oz and wouldn't fall back to sleep until after 12. Then he woke up at 4 and 7am. And he's still sleeping (it's after 8). So there you have it...crappy sleep, but transition complete.

Now we just need his Merlin sleep suit to get here so we can lose the dang swaddle. Or as I'm sure Luke would refer to them- miniature straight jackets. My god, how he hates those things.

Every day gets better and better!

Has baby acne/dry skin on his cheeks

7.5 weeks old!

So, apparently having two kids is really time consuming. I don't know how the true bloggers do it.

Updates on Luke:

He's almost 8 weeks old!!!

Jan 7th-10th- he slept through the nights! In a major way! 11pm-6:30/7am. And half the time, I had to wake him up to be fed.

Last night, he woke up once around 3am. Which is still obviously totally fine because up until this point, he's been pretty unpredictable and torturous....wanting to go to bed at 12,1, or 2am.  He's becoming such a little sleep rockstar.

Here's what we did to achieve the 11pm sleep time:

Between 7-9, get him to nap. This is always almost impossible, so it means wearing the ergo carrier and forcing it.

At 9pm, take him out and feed him 4 oz of formula. He is breastfed, but he snacks on me and is terrible with big meals, so this is my way of knowing that he is getting a good filling meal.

After food, it's playtime.

At 10:30, bath!

11pm - Swaddle, breastmilk and bed. Some nights he goes to bed awake, drowsy or completely passed out from boob.

Let's hope it keeps working!

He has arrived!!!

Many apologies for the delay, as the past few days have been a smidge hectic...HOWEVER, I would like to announce the arrival of our littlest addition,  Luke!

He came screaming to Earth at 2:44pm on Thursday, November 19th after a nerve wracking but ultimately uneventful c-section. He was so beautiful that upon first glance, I almost passed out from happiness:)

I'll update with details shortly!

39 weeks!

It's the final countdown!!!!!

I can't wait! This weekend, Jeff and I are doing every last detail that needs to be done before the baby such as cleaning the house top to bottom, installing the car seat, building a crap load of baby gadgets, food shopping so Piper doesn't starve at grandma and grandpa's...getting a facial, because I may never sleep again after the baby is born. Yay! It's all happening!

I have a pre-op appointment on Tuesday, and then the cesarean scheduled for Thursday. I can't help but be bummed that no doctor in their right mind would let me deliver naturally again after what happened last time. I hate that I'll have a longer recovery time, which will prolong the time I have to wait to roughhouse  with Piper, and that someone will gruesomely be slicing into my abdomen, but hey...I've gone through worse at this point. And all that matters is his safe arrival. However, my mom did donate blood last week in the event that I bleed out again and need a transfusion. She's the best:)

Four full days left and I plan to fill them with seeing as many people as possible and doing as much as my broken body will allow:)

It's happening!

Pee!!

Piper peed on the potty!!!

This is a big deal, right? Because it certainly feels like a big deal. If I didn't have a newborn coming in less than 2 weeks, I'd probably allow myself to get far too excited over the prospect of changing fewer smelly, disgusting diapers. But with a newborn, we all know that isn't reality.

Anyway, I'm proud of my little girl... 3 weeks after her second birthday:)

37 weeks!

Full term is here!!!

As of now, I'm feeling great mentally. Physically, not so much.

-SO tired. (I try to take a 20 minute nap during Piper's nap everyday)
-Pain in my leg is back.
-Lower back pain won't go away either.
-Tons of lower pushing.
-Some heartburn.
-Palpitations - doctor says he's just big and pushing against organs, which can cause this.
-No sleep.
-SUPER itchy stomach.

I'm trying to focus on the finish line and really soak up this time with Piper. He will be here before I know it:)

34 weeks

Well, it's official...I feel like I'm about to have a baby. A very active baby. At this point, I'm up most of the night from tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable with a dancing belly.  But, the countdown is on and I know sleep won't get any easier when he's here:)

Went to see my brother run an 18 mile race at the beach this weekend. The finish line was at the lighthouse, so we actually took some big belly pics!

Doctor visit info - She thought the baby was breach, but turned out to be his butt jutting out of my left side. Blood pressure and heartbeat was good and weight was up 20 pounds total (but I started 9 heavier than normal from the miscarriage). Otherwise, everything is looking good.

Less than 6 weeks to go!!!

32 Weeks

No picture of me, but appt went well this morning. Measuring about a week behind, which is fine and I've gained 20 pounds. Soooo...that might explain why my back hates me.

Here's Piper, queen of Facetime....She may not get to see them often, but she loves FaceTiming with her Washington Grandparents!

Also, it's really not fair how much these two look alike, is it?

31 weeks!

Yay! I love being in the 30's...getting to the finish line feels so attainable.

And I'm feeling okay. I wake up around 4 or 5 every morning and can't go back to sleep. But other than being a complete zombie, things are good!

Here we are on our after dinner walk last night. I look smaller than I am.

Published on Scary Mommy Today!

An article I wrote was published on Scary Mommy today...check it out!

It's not so much about Facebook, but kind of just a different way for me to write about my infertility journey. Obviously at the time, I didn't want to write underneath every single photo what was REALLY going on because that would be somewhat confusing, but it is interesting to see that sometimes there is a deeper side to things. I guess I used FB as a jumping off point to get the conversation started. Does that make sense? Who knows. I'm tired:)
